Game Situations & IQ
Live Scenarios & Decision Making
Real-time situations: Practicing drills in live-action to simulate game scenarios, including pick-and-rolls, fast breaks, and half-court offense.
Reading the defense: Players learn to read defensive schemes (man-to-man, zone, traps) and quickly adjust their strategy.
Making the right decision: We’ll emphasize making smart decisions in the moment—when to shoot, pass, drive, or reset. The goal is to develop a high basketball IQ so players can handle pressure and execute on the fly.
Offensive Spacing
Floor spacing principles: How to maintain proper spacing on the court, whether it’s in transition or half-court sets.
Player movement: Understanding the importance of cutting, screening, and spacing to open up lanes for teammates.
Creating passing lanes: Players will practice maintaining space to ensure easy, effective ball movement and avoid stagnation in the offense.
Team Concepts
Ball movement: How to effectively pass and move to create open shots and opportunities, emphasizing unselfish play.
Help defense and rotations: How to play as a cohesive defensive unit, with a focus on communication, rotating on defense, and positioning to support teammates.
Offensive sets: How to run and recognize different offensive sets and systems (e.g., motion offense, pick-and-roll, fast breaks) and when to execute them.
Team synergy: Building trust and understanding with teammates, knowing when to step up and when to step back, and fostering a team-first mindset.
